Village Creek
Village Creek State Park

Texas' newest State Park is located in Lumberton, 20 minutes north of Beaumont, Texas.  This bicycle Friendly Park looks new too.  It's a fun place to see.  It's modern as parks go.  This means confined by encroaching civilization and permanent portable looking potties.  The most noticeable feature is how the camp sites are laid out in a row like a parking lot.  Evidently because of space restrictions, the days of I can hear my neighbor, but I can't see them are over.  The roads leading up to the park are as nice and quiet as the park itself.  Warm up there and then charge right in, the off road portion of the park changes greatly with the seasons and the years.  Heavy summer rains can wash out ravines that may be filled by next spring's floods.  A lack of rain causes large portions of the sandy trails to "loosen up" makig them un-rideable.  The inverse, rain causes the sugary sand to tighten and pack and the trails are a blast.  Ever changing terrain, non stop fun.  A very nice facility.  Oh, your destination is the creek, Village Creek.

A note about the water in this area.
